Recently, this young raccoon climbed into a garbage truck, likely expecting an easy meal. What she didn't expect was to become trapped in the truck as it compacted.
Incredibly, she survived her ordeal without injury; she was found alive and brought to the BC SPCA's Wild ARC. Even though she escaped the garbage truck unharmed, she still has a few more obstacles to overcome. Unlike most raccoons who are born earlier in the year, she is still too young to survive winter on her own. Instead, she will spend the next few months gaining weight, building strength, and bonding with three other raccoons in care at Wild ARC. All three will be released together in the spring.
