Meet Squishy. A six year-old Jack Russell, she was left outside the SPCA with a note from her owners saying she'd had an eye problem since her puppy days and that they could no longer care for her. Upon seeing the vet, Squishy was diagnosed with glaucoma in her left eye; that eye was subsequently removed, a procedure which was paid for through the Biscuit Fund.
Since her surgery, Squishy has been transferred to the Sunshine Coast SPCA where she has continued to receive medical care for her eyes and is now actively seeking her forever home. Potential adopters should know that Squishy will need monthly (and later on, quarterly) vet check-ups as well as regular medication which will cost approximately $45 per month.
While Squishy will require specialized care for the rest of her life, the rewards associated with becoming a guardian to this precious dog are great. Squishy is well-behaved in each situation she encounters and definitely plays well with others. Even with her generally calm demeanor, she has managed to retain some of that signature Jack Russell enthusiasm.
To learn more about Squishy and to inquire about adopting her, please contact the BC SPCA Sunshine Coast Branch.
What a little angel.
